James O'Sullivan
President and Chief Executive Officer
M. O’Sullivan was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Power Corporation and Power Financial Corporation in July 2026. Previously, he was President and Chief Executive Officer of IGM Financial since 2020.
Before joining the Power group, Mr. O’Sullivan held various positions at Scotiabank, including Group Head, Canadian Banking. Over his 29-year career at Scotiabank, Mr. O’Sullivan also held leadership roles in investment banking, mergers and acquisitions, personal and commercial banking, and insurance.
He is Chair of the Board of Great-West Lifeco and IGM Financial and a director of certain Power group companies, including Canada Life, Empower, IG Wealth Management, Mackenzie, Northleaf Capital, Rockefeller Capital Management and Wealthsimple.
He is currently a member of the Regimental Senate, 48th Highlanders of Canada.
Mr. O’Sullivan holds joint Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration degrees from Osgoode Hall Law School and Schulich School of Business at York University, as well as a Specialized Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from York University.
