Catherine Newman
Vice-President and Controller
Ms. Newman was appointed Vice-President and Controller of Power Corporation in September 2026. In her role, she oversees the accounting, financial reporting and tax activities.
Ms. Newman has over 25 years of experience in the Canadian financial services industry. She has extensive expertise in areas including financial reporting, capital markets, governance, risk management and finance transformation. Prior to joining Power Corporation, she served as Senior Vice-President and Chief Internal Auditor at Laurentian Bank of Canada.
Over the course of her career, she has held leadership positions at iA Financial Group and National Bank of Canada as well as positions at the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions and Deloitte.
Ms. Newman serves as President of the Fondation de l'Institut universitaire en santé mentale de Montréal (FIUSMM). She is also a member of the Board of Directors and Treasurer of the Foundation of the Women's Centre of Montreal.
Ms. Newman is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA auditor) and a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). She also holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Université du Québec à Montréal.
