Power Corporation’s senior management team continually strives for excellence in crafting and executing the Corporation’s strategy. The team’s vision, entrepreneurial approach and leadership has resulted in significant value for shareholders over the long term.
 

R. Jeffrey Orr

Mr. Orr was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Power Corporation in February 2020.

He has extensive experience in the financial services industry, including the past two decades in executive positions in Power group companies. He has been President and Chief Executive Officer of Power Financial, a position he has held since 2005. From 2001 to 2005, he was President and Chief Executive Officer of IGM Financial. Prior to joining IGM Financial, he was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of BMO Nesbitt Burns Inc. and Vice-Chairman, Investment Banking Group, of the Bank of Montreal. Mr. Orr had been with BMO Nesbitt Burns Inc. and predecessor companies since 1981.

He is a director of Power Financial and is also a director and Chairman of certain Power Group companies, including Great-West Lifeco, Canada Life, Empower, IGM Financial, IG Wealth Management and Mackenzie. He is also a director of PanAgora Asset Management Inc. Since 2023, Mr. Orr is also Special Advisor to the Board of Rockefeller Capital Management General Partner L.L.C. He was a director and Chairman of Putnam Investments until January 2024.

Mr. Orr is active in a number of community and business organizations. He holds a Bachelor of Arts — Honours Business Administration (HBA) degree from the Richard Ivey School of Business in London, Ontario. Mr. Orr received an honorary Doctor of Laws from the Western University.

Jocelyn Lefebvre

Mr. Lefebvre is Vice-Chairman, Europe of Power Corporation. He is also a founding partner and the Chairman of the Investment Committee of the European firm Sagard Private Equity Europe, part of Power Corporation’s alternatives investment platforms.

He joined Power Corporation in 1992 when he became its representative in Europe, playing a significant role in the financial and industrial transformation of Pargesa, the European investment arm of Power. Over the years, he sat on the boards of directors of group companies such as Groupe Bruxelles Lambert, Imerys SA, Parfinance SA, RTL Group SA, Suez-Tractebel SA, Kartesia Management S.à r.l., AFE and Orior Food SA.

He served as Vice-Chairman of Pargesa until November 2020, when Pargesa’s reorganization was completed. He sits on the boards of Pargesa SA and Parjointco SA.

Mr. Lefebvre has over 40 years of industrial and financial experience with numerous prominent organizations. He began his career in 1980 with Arthur Andersen in Montréal, before moving to Europe in 1982. He joined the Canadian manufacturing group M.I.L. Inc. in 1986, where he held a number of senior executive positions, whilst also assuming until 1991 the Chief Executive Officer role at Vickers Inc., one of the group’s larger operating units.

Mr. Lefebvre graduated from the École des Hautes Études Commerciales (HEC) in Montréal. He is a member of the Quebec Order of Chartered Professional Accountants.

Jake Lawrence

Mr. Lawrence was appointed Executive Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer of Power Corporation and Power Financial in March of 2024.

Mr. Lawrence has an extensive background in financial services, having worked at Scotiabank for the past 22 years in progressively senior roles in finance, group treasury and global banking and markets in both Canada and the United States. He was most recently CEO and Group Head, Global Banking and Markets, a role in which he was responsible for the Scotiabank’s global banking and markets business and strategy across its global footprint.

Mr. Lawrence is Chair of the Canadian Advisory Board for Right To Play. He was previously a member of the Advisory Council for Women in Capital Markets and has served as the Chair of the Ontario Housing Affordability Task Force, a team of industry leaders and experts selected by the Premier of Ontario to explore the issues facing housing affordability in Ontario and to provide recommendations that address market housing supply and affordability.

He holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree from Lakehead University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Wilfrid Laurier School of Business and Economics.

Claude Généreux

Mr. Généreux has been Executive Vice-President of Power Corporation since 2015. He was Executive Vice-President of Power Financial from 2015 to 2020. He is a Director of Great-West Lifeco, Canada Life, Empower, IGM Financial, IG Wealth Management, Mackenzie and Groupe Bruxelles Lambert. He was a director of Putnam Investments until January 2024.

Mr. Généreux is also Senior Partner Emeritus of McKinsey & Company, a global management consulting firm. During his 28 years with the firm, he focused on serving leading global companies in the Financial Services, Energy and Resources sectors. He has held various leadership positions including Global Sector Leadership in energy, Office Leadership in Montréal, Global Personnel Committees for partner election and evaluation, and Global Recruiting for Advanced University Degrees candidates. Mr. Généreux helped launch McKinsey’s office in Montréal in 1991 and was also posted in its Paris, Toronto and Stockholm offices. 

He is Governor Emeritus of the Board of Governors at McGill University on which he served between 2010 and 2023. He is a Board member of the Rhodes Scholarships in Canada and the Sauvé Foundation. He has received the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal for outstanding and exemplary contributions to his community. 

Mr. Généreux graduated from McGill University and Oxford University, where he studied as a Rhodes Scholar.

Olivier Desmarais

Mr. Desmarais has been Senior Vice-President of Power Corporation since 2017. He is also the driving force behind Power Sustainable, an alternative asset management company focused on responsible growth, as Chairman and CEO.

Building upon his experience at Power Energy Corporation, where he led the Company's transformation in 2019, the business, now known as Power Sustainable, has grown rapidly through a climate first approach focused on creating long-term value. Indeed, this investment philosophy delivers market or better returns beyond the energy sector.

In addition to these roles, Mr. Desmarais chairs the Canada China Business Council (CCBC) and sits on the Canada Institute Advisory Board of the Wilson Center and the Asia Business Leaders Advisory Council (ABLAC). He sat on the boards of directors of Canada Life, of IG Wealth Management, of Mackenzie and of LMPG until 2023.

Mr. Desmarais is also deeply invested in his community and actively engages in philanthropic activities. As a founding member of McGill University's Sustainable Growth Institute through Power Sustainable, he brings together academics, students, industry, and policy leaders to develop practical solutions for businesses transitioning to a sustainable economy. Furthermore, he supports the Montreal Heart Institute Foundation and initiatives by the Montreal Museum of Contemporary Arts.

Mr. Desmarais holds a Bachelor of Civil Law from the University of Ottawa and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Political Science from McGill University. A member of the Québec Bar since 2009, he also sits on the University of Ottawa’s Advisory Board of the Civil Law Section.

Paul Desmarais III

Paul Desmarais III is Senior Vice-President of Power Corporation since 2017 as well as the Chairman and CEO of Sagard, an alternative asset management firm active in venture capital, private equity, private credit, real estate, healthcare royalties and private wealth. 

Within the Sagard ecosystem, Paul is the Executive Chairman and Co-Founder of Portage Ventures and the Chairman and Co-Founder of Diagram. Within the investment portfolios, he is the Chairman of Wealthsimple, Dialogue and Novisto, the Executive Chairman of Grayhawk, and a director of nesto.

In addition to these roles, he has also been a Director of Empower since 2023.

Paul is dedicated to helping build a better business world. He is Co-Founder of the Black Wealth Club and the Indigenous Leadership Circle, where emerging Black and Indigenous leaders go to learn about creating wealth and networks giving them tools and resources that can be reinvested it in their communities. Under Paul’s leadership, Sagard has committed to a more sustainable financial system by becoming a signatory of the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment, enlisting as a CREO participant, and embarking on its journey to carbon neutrality. Paul was also co-chair the Centraide (United Way) campaign in 2022 and will chair the large donors campaign for the same organization in 2024-2027. 

Prior to his current role, Paul worked at Goldman Sachs in the Investment Banking Division, Investment Strategy Group and Special Situations Group, Imerys S.A. in supply chain management and strategy and Great-West Lifeco Inc. in risk management. He has earned a B.A. in Economics from Harvard College and holds an MBA from INSEAD. In 2017, Paul was recognized as one of the Top 40 Under 40 in Canada.

Paul C. Genest

Mr. Genest has been Senior Vice-President of Power Corporation since 2016. He was Senior Vice-President of Power Financial from 2016 until 2020.

His background includes government, academia and business. He served in a number of portfolios as a Deputy Minister in the Ontario Government, including Intergovernmental Affairs, Francophone Affairs and also Deputy Minister responsible for the Pan Am and Parapan Am Games held in Toronto in 2015.

He served in the federal government as Director of Policy and Research for Prime Minister Jean Chretien. He also served as Chief Executive Officer of the Council of Ontario Universities and as Assistant Vice-President of Bell Canada. He was an Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Union College, Schenectady, N.Y., and an Adjunct Professor at Glendon College, York University.

Mr. Genest is an active volunteer with the Nature Conservancy of Canada, and is Chair of the Board, Ontario Region. He is the Vice-Chair of the Board of the National Gallery of Canada Foundation, and is a Board Member of Business for the Arts. He serves on the Advisory Council of the Coalition for a Better Future. He is a past Member of the Board of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce.

A champion of diversity, he has been honored for his advocacy for the rights of the LGBTQ community, including serving as the Deputy Minister Champion of OPS Pride. He is a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal. In June 2022, Mr. Genest was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Ottawa.

He holds a B.A., Honors (cum laude) in English and Philosophy from the University of Guelph, an M.A. in Philosophy from the University of Ottawa, and a Ph.D. in Philosophy from The Johns Hopkins University. He is a graduate of the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School where he was the Valedictorian. He has also completed the Rotman School of Management, Institute of Corporate Directors - Directors Education Program, where he was also the Valedictorian.

Charles Dumont

Mr. Dumont has served as Vice-President of Power Corporation since 2021. In his role, he advises and supports the Corporation and its group companies on matters related to strategy and transformation.

Before joining Power Corporation, Mr. Dumont was Head of Digital Sales and Marketing for Cirque du Soleil, where he led Cirque’s digital transformation with its private equity owners. Prior to this, Mr. Dumont founded SensorFocus, a startup in the cloud data and analytics space. SensorFocus was sold to Cirque du Soleil in 2018. Before that, he spent eight years at McKinsey & Company serving leading global companies in the Financial Services, Manufacturing and Energy sectors. From 2008 to 2010, Mr. Dumont worked at Plainfield Asset Management, a New York–based special situations hedge fund, as a Senior Vice-President covering the energy sector.

He has been sitting on the Board of Directors of Finance Montréal since 2022.

Mr. Dumont holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Université Laval, as well as a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Denis Le Vasseur

Mr. Le Vasseur joined the Power group of companies in 1992 and currently serves as Vice-President and Controller of Power Corporation and of Power Financial. His responsibilities include financial reporting, budgeting, taxation and information technology.

Mr. Le Vasseur has been a Director of LMPG since 2023.

He began his career in 1982 with Touche Ross, a predecessor firm of Deloitte, specializing in the audit of large holding companies. He also worked on various consulting assignments in the field of mergers and acquisitions.

Mr. Le Vasseur earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and an MBA from McGill University, and obtained his Chartered Accountant designation in 1985. In 2020, Mr. Le Vasseur received the prestigious title of Fellow from the Order of Chartered Professional Accountants of Quebec (FCPA). This title formally recognizes those members whose achievements in their careers or in the community have earned them distinction and brought honor to the profession. He serves on the board of directors of the On the Tip of the Toes Foundation, an organization that helps teenagers living with cancer regain their self-esteem and sense of pride through wilderness adventure therapy.

Stéphane Lemay

Mr. Lemay has been Vice-President, General Counsel and Secretary of Power Corporation and Power Financial since 2012. Mr. Lemay joined Power Corporation as Vice-President and Assistant General Counsel in 2005 and assumed the same position at Power Financial in 2009. He is also responsible for ESG initiatives, in addition to being the media spokesperson.

Mr. Lemay began his career with the law firm Byers Casgrain (now Dentons), where he worked in commercial litigation for five years. He subsequently held the position of Policy Advisor, Economic Development, in the Office of the Prime Minister of Canada from 1997 to 1999. Mr. Lemay then returned to the private sector in Montréal, serving in a number of executive positions in legal, regulatory and public affairs with companies within the Telesystem Group. He then joined Gildan, a leading apparel company, where he was Vice-President of Public and Legal Affairs and Secretary until 2005. 

Mr. Lemay is active in a number of not-for-profit organizations and community initiatives.

Yuhong Liu (Henry)

Mr. Liu has been Vice-President of Power Corporation since 2011. He oversees Power Corporation’s business development in Asia, where the Corporation currently has a number of investments. Mr. Liu joined Power Corporation in 1995 and has since held various positions, most recently as Financial Analyst and Director of Asian Affairs. Prior to joining Power Corporation, Mr. Liu worked with China CITIC Group in Beijing.

Mr. Liu sits on the boards of directors of Power Sustainable Investment Management Inc. and of Power Sustainable Pacific (Shanghai) Investment Management Co., Ltd. 

Mr. Liu obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Nanjing, China, earned an MBA from McGill University, and is a CFA charter holder.

He serves as a member of the board of governors for the Jiuding Scholarship Program dedicated to Chinese students studying in Canada, and is a member of the board of directors of the Montreal Chinese Hospital Foundation. He is also actively involved in supporting the development of cultural programs to promote local Chinese communities in Canada.

Patrick Mercier

Mr. Mercier has served as Vice-President, Strategy of Power Corporation since 2023. In his role, he advises and supports the Corporation and its group companies on matters related to strategy and capital allocation.

Before joining Power Corporation, Mr. Mercier was Partner at McKinsey & Company, where he was most recently leader of the Canadian insurance practice and co-leader of the global business building practice in financial services. Previously, Mr. Mercier held the positions of Financial Sector Advisor to the Honourable Jim Flaherty, Minister of Finance, and of International Manager at HSBC Bank Plc where he was based in India and the United Kingdom.

Mr. Mercier holds a Bachelor of Commerce from McGill University.

Luc Reny

Mr. Reny has been Vice-President of Power Corporation since 2005. Currently, he is responsible for human resources and compensation matters as well as real estate management and various aspects of Power’s operations. He was Vice-President of Power Financial from 2009 until 2020. He joined Power Corporation in 1989 as a financial analyst and was subsequently named Executive Assistant to the President. In 1995, he was appointed Director of Administration.

He began his career in 1983 at the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec, where he worked as a financial analyst in the Asset Management and Equity Markets departments until 1989.

He is President of Square Victoria Real Estate Inc. and is also a member of the board of Liberty Springs Inc.

Over the years, he has participated in many fundraising activities for various charitable organizations. He currently serves as the Chairman of the board of the Fondation Armand-Frappier and is also a member of the boards of the Fondation Baxter & Alma Ricard and the Fondation OLO. 

Mr. Reny holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Université Laval and an Executive MBA from Université de Sherbrooke. He earned his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation from the CFA Institute in Virginia, United States. In February 2017, he also obtained the certification Chartered Director (C.Dir.) from The Directors College.
